Back O' Bennachie by North Sea Gas

Back O' Bennachie is a traditional Scottish song in the Doric dialect of Scots. This version was recorded by North Sea Gas, a local band. It is also known by the name 'Where Gadie Rins'. The song dates back to the early 1600s. Despite its jaunty tune the song is actually quite sad. It tells the story of a woman who loved two men, both of whom died in tragic circumstances. The video shows parts of the Bennachie mountain range, Gadie Burn from various points along its length, Lickleyhead Castle, the Ballater Games and other shots suggesting a Scottish theme!
